In The Black Fantastic at Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre

We invite you to join us for a group visit to this new art exhibition of 11 contemporary artists from the African diaspora who draw on science fiction, myth and Afrofuturism to question our knowledge of the world.

Myth, science fiction, spiritual traditions and the legacy of Afrofuturism are all sampled, reimagined and recontextualised in In the Black Fantastic.

Including painting, photography, video, sculpture and mixed-media installations, the exhibition creates immersive experiences that bring the viewer into a new environment somewhere between the real world and a multiplicity of imagined ones. In this exhibition, fantasy becomes a zone of creative and cultural liberation and a means of addressing racism and social injustice by conjuring new ways of being in the world.

This is an independent trip and you will need to make your own way to and from the Southbank. Nova will meet you at the Gallery and provide the tickets. Staff will be there to support the visit but you will be responsible for yourselves and can decide how long you wish to stay.

Immediately following the exhibition, you are very welcome to stay on the Southbank into the evening and join us for a music and dance performance at the Royal Festival Hall with *Kinetika Bloco: Through the Fire*
