Be A Living Subject 

 

Are you tired of being reduced to a label? Do you want to help shatter people’s preconceived ideas?   

We are looking for Volunteers to be Living Subjects at The School of Humanity. By sharing your unique life experience, your story will add to our syllabus of multi-perspectivity.  This is an exciting opportunity to set the record straight and shine a light on the many layers beyond your label. In a bid to help people find and connect with our common humanity, we invite you to take part in this unique live learning experience and open people’s mind at The School of Humanity. 

What you have to do:

  • Pick a subject / label that intrigues people about your identity e.g. Transgender, Ex-Drug Addict, Refugee, Child Bride, Anxiety, Social Housing Tenant, Universal Credit  
  • Share your life story in open conversation & help reduce prejudice and pre-conceptions 
  • Help create a safe space so Learners feel comfortable to ask questions (and equally be comfortable in answering personal questions) 
  • Time commitment: Events are on an ad-hoc basis and time commitment will vary from a couple of hours to a full day. 

Who we’re looking for:

  • People who are open with strong communication skills 
  • Friendly, respectful, polite and approachable 
  • People who are willing to share the realities of their life story
