Hello! We are the Nova Youth Voice Group

We have been working together since September 2024 to learn how to use our voices for good causes. We have taken workshops in ethical journalism, social media literacy, public speaking and much more. We voted between us to focus our efforts for this year’s project on the Local Environment.

Our Local Environment Project

As young people who care about the future of our community, we’ve designed a project to better understand how people of all ages feel about the environment around us–such as parks and green spaces, air pollution, recycling and more.

1.

Strategic Partnerships

We worked with BBC Journalist Chris Ansil and a Film Maker to interview local people at Kensington Town Hall and Portobello Market. We wanted to hear people’s concerns and give them a platform to be heard!

2.

Gathering Insights

We created a survey to reach more people in the local area and get more precise data on local environmental concerns in different areas of the Kensington & Chelsea borough.

3.

Building Knowledge

We have taken all the data from our street interviews and online surveys and presented this to the international audience that visits the Natural History Museum at the “Fixing Our Broken Planet” exhibition to see what their thoughts and solutions to the locals’ concerns are.

We will take part in the Morley College Radio Show with a Climate Scientist as our panel expert to discuss our findings and steps forward.

Then, we will turn all our footage across the project into a mini documentary and have a Community Screening!

Advocate

After this, we will visit City Hall and partake in the Mayor's Question Time to push for the solutions to the locals concerns to be prioritised.
