Collings Hanger Farm

Join us for a discovery tour around a real working farm with this unique opportunity to experience the working countryside first hand.
We will visit the Orchard and discuss different types of fruit farming, explore the meadows, fields and barns, and find out about organic farming. We will see the farm animals up close, and learn about beef farming, rearing animals and where our food comes from.
*Please make sure you bring a PACKED LUNCH, water and snacks with you.* It’s a working farm, without a cafeteria, but a suitable place to eat will be made available on the day.
HEALTH & SAFETY
THIS IS A WORKING FARM AND ALL CHILDREN REMAIN THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENTS/CARERS AND MUST BE CLOSELY SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES.
This visit includes walking through fields, on slopes, uneven ground, through woodland, etc.  If Adults and children have accessibility concerns, please speak to us before you book.
We will be walking through areas where animals have recently had access. The route will be uneven unsuitable for buggies, children under 2 may need to be carried. Please ensure that children and adults bring wellies or boots for walking along with a pair of shoes and socks to change into at the end of the visit.
The trip will go ahead whatever the weather, so please ensure you are prepared for wet grass, cowpats and possibly mud. Raincoats are advised but please note: *umbrellas are NOT allowed*, as they frighten the animals!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Farms produce almost everything we eat. The choices we make determine what food is produced, how it is produced and how the land is managed. Children, parents and teachers will approach a farm visit with widely differing views, some may have strongly held moral, ethical, cultural or faith-based views on what foods we should or shouldn’t eat, animal welfare, or how the land should be managed. Our objective is that, as a result of first-hand experiences during our visits and activities, children will have the opportunity to ask questions, listen to others and be in better position to make informed choices, understanding that their choices matter, and are influential in the future shape of farming and the countryside. We do not advocate or campaign for or against any particular form of farming or land management.
