Roald Dahl’s timeless tale of a smart and curious little girl and the terrible adults she has to deal with on a daily basis, having made the leap from page to stage, now arrives on the big screen and it is extremely enjoyable – as it should be with such a creative team and cast. Music and lyrics are by Tim Minchin, screenplay by Dennis Kelly, and Tony award-winning director Matthew Warchus adapts his own hugely successful stage musical. Emma Thompson gives good Trunchbull, Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough are wonderfully awful parents, and Lashana Lynch a charming Miss Honey.
