Ascentis ESOL Skills for life – Reading - at entry level 1, is for learners who are developing their reading skills and wish to move on to bigger challenges. While the course will cover various topics and skills, there is a focus on reading and themes around functional English skills. The course is accredited, and will end with an exam, granting learners a nationally recognised diploma to certify their reading level at entry 1.
Target Group
Adults aged 19 and up with some experience in learning English, who want to improve their skills and gain a certificate which will open doors to higher level qualifications and develop career prospects.

High Pre entry level or entry level 1.
What you will learn
This course will develop a broad range of skills for learners who have a very good foundation of English and are starting to use the language confidently and accurately, but still need to improve some key areas. The course will focus on speaking, listening, punctuation and grammar, developing functional skills that will enable learners to overcome language barriers. The course is accredited and learners will gain a nationally recognised qualification at the end.

Course overview:
You will learn how to be more productive with the use of Microsoft office software/Apps on windows 11 laptops/computers while using AI to edit your own work and produce corresponding content, use content produced by others legally as well as learn how to work collaboratively.
Target group:
Experienced with basic and up to date knowledge of laptops/computers
What you will learn:
Intermediate use of all MS office suite apps so that you can produce documents / cover letters, produce a presentation and present, and use excel to enter data, manipulate it and produce charts and embed corresponding excel data elements into MS word or PowerPoint. learn to use Microsoft Copilot for editing support and the production of generated imagery, learn to legally use imagery from the internet and credit the corresponding sources as required, and learn to work collaboratively. Use Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin to network.

You should already know how to get onto the internet, basic use of Microsoft or equivalent office suite of software/apps for business on windows 11 (knowing what the intended use and way around), and confident use of: browsers, the internet, online forms, email, search, windows 11 file manager, downloading data from the internet, attaching files to online forms/email, understanding the danger of phishing and staying safe online.
What you will learn:
This class is specifically aimed at learners who have been in England for some time, but need support with all their basic skills–reading & writing in English, IT and maths. We work a lot on spelling, reading short texts and writing for daily life (e.g. texts and emails) and will be going over all the basic maths topics and using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Lessons are based on a wide range of different topics, but will have a particular focus on practising their literally skills.

Adults aged 19+ who need to improve their basic skills for life in the UK. They will have reasonable English speaking skills and may have achieved an Entry 1 or 2 ESOL or Functional Skills qualification.
Entry requirements:
Assessed as E2 or lower with established literacy, IT & maths needs in Nova’s initial assessment.
What you will learn
ESOL Skills for Life and Work is a Pre-Entry/Entry 1 level course, for learners who do not have much experience in English. We start from the basics of English vocabulary and grammar, including learning the alphabet, numbers, and introductions. We also practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening, about a number of different topics. We will also work on some topics and vocabulary to help you prepare to use English in the world of work. This is a non-accredited course in a relaxed environment, with lots of opportunities to speak to your classmates and your teacher. It is perfect for people who are just starting English and want to get a strong foundation.

Adults aged 19 and up with little or no experience in learning English, who want to improve and practise.

What you will learn
A fun, interactive class with lots of different activities to improve your language in daily life and at work. We will have a focus on pronunciation, listening skills, writing with more detail and in the formal register, improving grammar and extending vocabulary.
You will learn vocabulary, grammar, and other skills that will help you in the world of work. We will develop reading and writing skills for everyday tasks, such as filling out forms and writing formal and informal emails or letters; learn vocabulary and phrases related to work environments; understand job advertisements and practise writing a CV and cover letter; learn how to use LinkedIn to network; build confidence in job interviews and professional communication.
You will have lots of opportunities to speak and discuss with other learners and become more confident in looking for jobs and working effectively with colleagues when you have one!
