Opera Holland Park: The Cunning Little Vixen
For many years, Opera Holland Park has been making the amazing world of opera accessible to all with thousands of free and affordable tickets being made available across the community. They hold schools’ matinees too, when 1,000 school children attend. Opera is spectacular and gripping and OHP is the perfect place to explore this art form.
Nova is thrilled to say that we have secured a number of tickets to three of the amazing productions taking place in Holland Park this summer. The theatre is equipped with a huge roof and this year, the theatre will be specially designed for Covid safety. Opera Holland Park is very informal and these events are designated Relaxed Performances, along with audio description facilities. There is no dressing up if you don’t want to either! Just enjoy the music and spectacle of the operas.
The Cunning Little Vixen (Janáček)
Sung in English with English surtitles
It’s all in the nature of things, foxes and people. Vixen lives by her instincts and by her wits. Something about her strikes a chord in the Gamekeeper. They first meet when she is just a cub. He takes her captive, but she soon breaks free and sets about finding a home and the fox of her dreams. As animals, insects and people take their chances and make their choices, or simply watch the world go by, Nature renews its miraculous, eternal cycle. Energised by Janáček’s exuberant rhythms, The Cunning Little Vixen captures the joys, thrills, fears and sorrows of our existence – whether or not we have a tail.
